Now that Huawei has officially launched the Mate XT Ultimate Design in China, demo videos are appearing online revealing what the world’s first dual- and triple-screen foldable phone looks like in real-world conditions.
Various unboxing The videos show that The Huawei Mate XT ships in its unfolded position, which is just 3.6mm (about 0.14 inches) thick at its thinnest point, making it thinner than Google’s 5.1mm (about 0.2 inches) Pixel 9 Pro Fold. When fully folded, the Mate XT measures 12.8mm (about 0.5 inches), slightly thicker than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s 10.1mm (about 0.39 inches) and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6’s 12.1mm.
TO practical review of toy gadget The Mate XT also has a special case that protects the device when folded and doubles as a stand to prop it upright when folded or unfolded.
In some videos, you can briefly see a small loading wheel when the phone switches from single-screen mode to dual-screen mode, but the screen seems responsive enough when switching between landscape and portrait orientations. One notable complaint can be seen in the video below.
The problem is that the display creases on both hinges are very visible at certain angles and in certain lighting, which may be disappointing to some, though not surprising, given the current state of foldable displays. However, they appear barely noticeable when viewed head-on.
